26 july - 1 aug ◆ pliable facade

This week is bittersweet as we see some things are going to be sailing off into the horizon. We are liable to clutch some of these things very tightly, but that act limits what new things we can accept. We are invited to put some things away to clear the table for what we are obligated to work with right now. Much like the difference between what is on the table and what is put away in the drawers, the parts of ourselves we share with the world are asking to be distilled and refined to their most essential components. Our relationship to our social roles is likely to come into focus for some of us. The persona and how we perform it are part of our public lives that we accept as “who we are,” but the many visages we present to the world are not necessarily actual parts of ourselves.
We begin the week with feedback about what stressful and frustrating situations we have been working through for most of the month. Some new information, or at least a different way of hearing it, can bring something to this situation. We could try a more personal approach or be more direct in our style starting this week.
As we reach the middle of the week, things begin to feel smaller or more restricted. The exciting possibilities of the season will start waning as we start the journey through the last part of it. This feeling of closing down or leaving may loom for a bit, or it might be swift. Regardless, knowing that something is finishing and when to stop spending so much time or energy perpetuating it is very useful. Take this time to notice what courtesies or liberties are making their way to the door and what those things leave behind. Sometimes the best course of action is to salvage and move on instead of pouring ourselves out of little return.
The weekend holds much more criticism than we have had, but we are also going to feel lighter once we put some possibilities on the shelf or in the drawer and commit to what we will focus on next. We are working to separate the unnecessary parts from what is vitally important. It may feel like a loss now, but this can alleviate some of the tension from juggling too much at once. The last month has not been easy, but the taxing tasks we have survived help fortify us in more than one way. One of the most potent antidotes to this time is flexibility. We can still commit and stay with the trouble and be open to new ideas, information, and ways of doing that are true to ourselves and further our agendas.
