11-17 january ◆ it broke for a reason

Surprises are around every corner this week. Expect the breakdown, break up, and breakthrough of some part of your life. If this process hasn’t already begun or has progressed unnoticed, it will show itself during this period. The process of letting an aspect of something go is a profoundly human ordeal. The habits and methods that we are accustomed to are the stuff that makes up our daily lives, but some are leaving. Being with pain or disappointment is not easy, but a critical part of processing emotions is holding and looking at what is hidden in this darkness. If you aren’t there yet, that’s ok, but we cannot skip that step. This week is the strenuous work of turning the soil over to prepare it. Who knows what you will find while breaking up the dirt and sifting the compost. The unexpected could have a positive effect, but it might be more helpful to prepare for less pleasant outcomes. Listening might be a challenging task, but it will be one of the most useful tools we have at this time. Sit with the information you receive at face value before letting emotions interpret it.
Take a second to listen to what is said at the beginning of the week. It might sound outrageous or like hyperbole, but some kernel of truth is presenting itself now. Whatever flashes of insight come up are likely to be prickly or not the thing you were hoping to hear. It is still useful information nonetheless and can help orient you toward the tasks at hand. If you feel like you need to speak very loudly at this time, please be ready to field opposing opinions, as others will feel they need to amplify their messages. Give yourself some time to let the gravity of whatever you are processing settle into being. There is likely a desire to be quick, but taking the time to see from inside and outside is central.
The middle of the week is a full ensemble of energetic dynamics. Old frustrations are highlighted, and new surprises come to light. Whatever has been breaking down will continue to deteriorate, but there is positive potential for seeds to be planted in whatever has finished. It may not sound very positive, but the darkest part of the night is when we can see the most stars. These new possibilities are ultimately advancements, but they will take portions of our identities to cultivate. Who are you in the world, and how do you see yourself when with others? After a demanding week, the weekend gives us some time to integrate our feelings into reality. Or we could desire to leave reality for a bit and dip into a dreamy bit of escapism. Your belief system or philosophy on life can be the focus of some internal tensions now. Something that shakes the foundation or disrupts some part of your ideology or faith may appear. Again, accepting these events may be difficult, but they are designed to show you what was already cracked or broken. Any shocks to the system are opportunities to redesign it if you take the time and do the work.
