10-16 may ◆ open plans

Many of us are no strangers to living two realities at once. This week has us planning for the worst and anticipating the best. There are not necessarily low points this week, but a mix of draped-in-grey seriousness with devil-may-care electric blue sunglasses. The big trick here is to use this time for more than just enjoying it. We should, of course, also just enjoy it. There is no shame in taking this time to just fill up on breezy sunshine because we are depleted. But if we are already doing fine, there is some wisdom in making hay while the sun shines. Though the seriousness is not heavy this week, it might be overwhelming to be presented with the influx of information that appears. Take it at a pace that works, and be aware that we do not have to do everything all at once. With any luck, we caught a break last week that felt restorative or at least like space to rest. We can use this week to triangulate our position and be present with the landmarks we find in our life. In about two weeks, things will be fast, loose, and maybe furious, so take it slow while we can.
The week starts with new plans being laid. Now is an excellent time to construct plan B or the contingencies that will pull us through the challenging times. The following two weeks are likely to be a bit slower-paced, but we will soon be active. Use this slice of undisturbed time to consider what problems we might need to plan for when the times are more demanding. This is not to make us fearful but to give us peace of mind that we have done what we can to prepare. Thinking and making decisions under stress almost always leads us to make choices based on survival and not longevity. We are also feeling less tied to the status quo and less interested in acting based on expectations made by others. These few days will have us feeling like we are more confident and capable, but remember that it’s not this way for long.
By the middle of the week, we find more stability to ground into. This adds another layer to the planning piece that is active now but focuses on general plans that require sorting many details. We will feel more clear-headed than usual. We are also reminded not to exclude others or to think only of ourselves as we come to conclusions this week. Don’t forget guiding principles and try to embody our life philosophies in the world.
The weekend is the start of an open, optimistic two and a half months. There could be some reservations about leaving home to venture outside, but the desire to wonder might win. Try not to get lost to the wonder of the new draw of freedom, as we could end up feeling far afield with no clear path back. It is undoubtedly about the journey for the moment. Hopefully, we can take things a little less personal for the time being and let go of our heightened defenses.
