16-22 august ◆ me vs. we
This week, we have a few shifts that coalesce around relating to the groups we do or do not belong to and how we believe others should act. There is a principle or some dogma at the core of why this belief exists for us that will have some light shone on it now. It is very valuable to know where these beliefs stem from as they may not be our own but the residue of someone else. This may not seem problematic, but we quickly become someone else if we start identifying as those beliefs. We give away part of ourselves to something we did not realize was there or blindly inherited. If we have a conflict around those issues this week, take some time to investigate the trail back to the source.
The beginning of the week eases us into a less demanding work ethos. We are more inclined to socialize and talk about things rather than actually do them now. This is a welcome break from the exacting and relentless pace we have kept for the last few weeks. There is a chance that the middle of the week will bring some sharp words or strategic ideas. Some of us may find the plan needs to be simplified or cut away to move forward. Try to remember that those receiving our plans are people and not just machines or data points. It may take some finessing to start the gears turning this week--a little bit of grace has probably been missing from our calculations, only now entering the picture. There is a bit of amazement or even shock at the transmissions we are sending or receiving now. Likely, these will be ultimately positive, but no less jarring.
The second half of the week is particularly eventful, with several acts on at once. One of the loudest parts demands that we reevaluate the disciplined, structured world of necessity that we live in with the nourishing and restorative needs of being human. Over the next few months, we will follow a thread focused on rebalancing these two truths of our existence. Where are we overdoing one at the expense of the other? What is more appropriate? Some of us might be surprised to find that we are not consciously interacting with our coping mechanisms and are inattentive to our duties.
Our weekend could be a little dramatic. We might find some conflict in the personal vs. the group that asks us to protect either ourselves and our own interests or the group and their collective ideology--almost certainly, one is at some expense of the other. It may also be difficult not to take things as personal attacks, as some of us could become self-identified with our beliefs. Give some space to those who are bristling at the requirements of the group. Though they will have the opportunity to change their minds in time, they may choose not to.
